Story:
Once upon a time, there was a little boy who, like most boys, loved ice-cream. He watched
eagerly as the ice-cream shop owner scooped the last scoop of his favorite flavor when suddenly, a regal looking man with a large mustache burst into the shop demanding the same flavor—it was
the Mustache King. The shop owner gave the boy’s cone to the Mustache King.
“Who was that, and why did you give him my ice-cream!?” demanded the boy of the shop owner.
The owner replied, “That was the Mustache King, and all must obey the ‘stache of the king.”
“Who made him king?”
“By the laws of our beloved moustachracy, whoever bears the moustache of a king shall rule over all.”
The boy left in a huff but returned a week later, his upper-lip wielding a mighty, yet untested, moustache. He was determined to become the Moustache King!

Action Platformer in the same vein as Castlevania or Zelda II

How to play:
The controls can be modified in settings.dat, but the defaults are as follows:
Arrows to move (double tap to run)

Hello everyone. It’s going to be a crazy eight days to get this finished, but I think we can do it. In the meantime here’s a little guy you may know.

Post-compo changelog:
- fixed a game-breaking bug in the final boss
- added a control instruction to the title screen
- changed a few final placeholders to actual sprites (this is slightly out of the ‘emergency bugfix’ boundaries, but it kind of happened on the side. My apologies!)

There was an NPC that got left out who was supposed to clue the player in on where to go. We’ll be sure to add her to the next revision.

In order from top to bottom the hierarchy of the moustachracy goes king, prince, duke, count, and lastly, baron.

Thanks for clarifying. I just figured the baron fight was impossible until I figured out what stunned him. the rest were easier to fight, especially since u had to use your new abilities.

I made it with my handlebar stache to possibly the last castle… lots of guards throwing bombs and dragon statues on each side of the door. I cannot enter the door though… is this the end of the game in-progress? or is there a final fight?

Great job! You have to beat all 6 of those guards to progress, which is admittedly way too difficult for even a skilled player—I sure can’t do it. Please accept my apologies for the difficulty. We’ll need to put out a release making that area easier (along with a stage select cheat so you don’t have to start over from the beginning).

Hey! I’m really enjoying the game so far. It seems really cool (If not a bit hard!). I love the music and art style.

I have been using an Xbox 360 Controller with Xpadder to play and it feels pretty good. (I don’t like using the keyboard)

Thanks for the snazzy “Let’s Play.” It helped me notice a few typos to fix. We have been discussing options for decreasing the difficulty, so please bear with us as we calibrate that.

The game has been update to its hopefully final version.

Changes include:
-Corrected dialog typos
-Fixed minor bugs
-Fixed barber shop visits
-Removed intro credits
-Added end credits
-Added missing audio
-Expanded punch hitbox slightly
-Added enemy health drops

The style and music reminds me of a SNES / Genesis game “Pacman 2, The New Adventures”. Very nice work.

This is too late for the deadline, but we just found and corrected a huge bug near the end of the game. Do not read any signs near the king’s castle if you haven’t downloaded the latest version.
