Hey y’all! In the past week I’ve been working hard to get this game (which I wasn’t sure I could even attempt) in under the wire. It’s been my first heavy plunge into Unity and it has been quite a trip!
I was compelled to choose this one as it felt like a curiously minimal slate to expand upon and to see what imaginative direction I could take it in:
In any case I have learned a ton, and this weird, tiny game is the product of my labor. It has weird sounds, surprising visuals, a story, and the manipulation of objects with buttons. What’s not to like?!
Here are Dropbox links to the above game(the same builds, I’ve not fixed the couple bugs/tiny errors I’ve found post compo) in case anyone has had difficulty with Sendspace(a friend did):
@matt, I thank you, Sir, what you say really makes me smile! My math is hazy, but I think there’s a maximum of 4,096(8,192 if you count the red button) ways those buttons could be combined. But basically, there are 12(13 if you count the red button) visual changes linked to 10 looped audio samples(and 1 un-looped click for, you guessed it, the red button) and then 2 audio effects that will alter/mess up the sound of those samples. It’s like this because I love drum machines, and appreciate synths and noises more than phone tones. My initial seed was, in part, to make a surprising exploration game out of an utterly universal/generic thing: the phone keypad. Just the act of pushing unknown buttons is halfway to fun. Thanks again!
