Entry: Spy Vs Sniper
Edited by ElectricFruit1: August 2012
Spy Vs Sniper
My plan is to make a game based on the above cart.
The game will be two player only and played from a top down rpg style view point. One player will use the keyboard to control the spy who will have to accomplish tasks in an area populated with Ai controlled characters. The other player uses the mouse and will have to identify which of the characters on screen is controlled by the other player and “assassinate” them before they can complete their task - hence the Spy Vs Sniper.
I will be working on my own and the game will be playable in a browser. It will also be pretty retro graphics wise as I’m not too much of an artist
Hopefully I should have some screenshots in a day or so.
Sounds like Chris Hecker’s
. It’s a nice game idea, a particularly interesting take on multiplayer.
Progress has been going pretty steady, most gameplay elements have been implemented and the game is playable from start to finish.
I have mostly stuck to my original idea and tried not to implement too many other things that would extend the development time.
Heres a screenshot of the game screen. 6 of the characters onscreen are controlled by the game and move around randomly the 7th character is controlled by the player who has to accomplish a set of tasks to win (see screenshot 2). Player 2 controls a crosshair with the mouse and to win has to identity which of the characters is player controlled.
Heres a screenshot of a mission screen i’m working on.
I will be making another post in the next few days explaining how the gameplay works.
Progress Report 2
Although Progress has been steady having play tested the concept with a few people the over all reaction was that it just wasn’t fun enough. To this end i have decided to shelve the project although I may return to it later as I feel it had some potential.
Not one to be a total quitter (also I love the idea for this comp and would be very happy if I could submit something) I decided that I would try to do something a little less ambitious - so I’m attempting to make another game (I started about 4 days ago) based on another cart. I will make a post about it when I have some free time, hopefully before the deadline
